We woke up to a rainy morning in the village of Benas. Despite the rain, we set out to explore the village, admiring its narrow streets and old houses. However, the rain was pouring down heavily, so we quickly sought refuge from the downpour in a café. We waited for a while, hoping the rain would ease, but it seemed relentless, and the weather forecast predicted no change, so we decided to change our plans.
If the weather had been favorable, in addition to exploring the village, we would have visited a nice-looking waterfall near Benas, which would have been a lovely spot.
Lovely Accommodation in the Village of Plan
We suspected that today would be spent mostly driving, as the weather outside was not inviting, so we looked for a beautiful small village where the weather might be better. We found Plan on the map and booked a delightful accommodation, Apartamentos Villa De Plan. This turned out to be our favorite accommodation of the entire trip.
We set off towards the village of Plan amidst the rainy atmosphere. It must be admitted that many roads looked quite impressive in the mood brought on by the rain. The road leading to Plan itself is narrow and winds through a narrow gorge. Along the way, there are variously maintained and narrow tunnels, which, combined with the rainy weather, created an atmosphere of venturing off the beaten path. If we hadn’t felt that way already by now, that is 😄
The village of Plan itself is very small, with only one small shop, a bakery, and a couple of restaurants. But as a real surprise, the village also boasted a Michelin-starred restaurant. It was quite surprising to find such a restaurant in such an isolated and small village.
The houses in the village are beautiful stone buildings, and as is often the case in small mountain villages, the church is the heart of the village. Plan is located in a beautiful area surrounded by mountains, so the views in every direction are stunning. There were also sheep grazing on the outskirts of the village, which were very cute.
The Apartamentos Villa De Plan was a truly lovely place to stay. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful woman at the reception. The building had an alpine lodge style and was extremely clean and well-maintained. Our apartment had a kitchen/living room and a separate bedroom. Both rooms had their own balconies with stunning mountain views. Additionally, the bathroom in our room had a hot tub, which was a real luxury.
Our plan after this night was to head towards the Costa del Sol, so this was the perfect accommodation for our last night in the Pyrenees Mountains.
