Torremolinos is a well-known beach destination on the Costa del Sol in Spain, and it was our first stop in this area. We had just completed a road trip from Barcelona through the Pyrenees Mountains to the Costa del Sol. You can read more about this journey in our previous posts ➛
Built on a hillside, Torremolinos is a coastal town where you’ll find yourself going up and down a lot. The streets wind intricately, offering narrow and beautiful paths lined with various shops. The town boasts a wide array of restaurants, as is typical of popular tourist destinations, and overall, the shopping opportunities are quite good.
Easily Reach Malaga or Fuengirola by Train
In the center of Torremolinos lies a train station, making it easy to access directly from the airport and convenient for day trips to places like Malaga ➛ or Fuengirola ➛. Along the train line sits the large shopping center Plaza Mayor, easily accessible and offering a vast selection to satisfy any shopping cravings. Train tickets are quite affordable, making travel between cities and towns very convenient.
Torremolinos Beaches
The beaches in Torremolinos are stunning, with endless stretches of coastline. La Carihuela Beach in Torremolinos is considered one of the finest beaches on the Costa del Sol. Naturally, you’ll find sun loungers, and there’s a good selection of beach bars and restaurants to cater to every taste.
The city is beautiful and atmospheric, with many impressive buildings, and the beach promenade is a nice place to observe the city’s hustle and bustle.
Enjoy Drinks on a Rooftop Terrace
On the Torremolinos beachfront, you’ll find a really nice rooftop terrace where you can enjoy a drink or two while watching the beautiful sunset and as the evening falls, the city lights come alive. The drinks were also really good. The rooftop terrace is called Sky and Sea Rooftop.
Hotel in Torremolinos
Our hotel in Torremolinos was Hotel Apartamentos Bajondillo. The location of the hotel was perfect, right on the beachfront along the main promenade, and just a few hundred meters from the busiest streets in the center. The hotel’s common areas were clean and well-maintained, although the pool was perhaps a bit small for the size of the hotel, but then again, the sea is right next door.
The room itself was relatively small but had a mini-kitchenette, which was convenient for cooking if needed. Otherwise, the room had seen better days, not the cleanest and a bit worn out. Probably next time, we would choose a different hotel. Nevertheless, in terms of location, the hotel was really good!
