From Plitvice, we headed back towards the Croatian coastline. We didn’t have a specific destination in mind; instead, the idea was to find a nice and cozy place to spend a few days on the northern end of the Croatian coast, where we could enjoy the crystal-clear sea and the sun. We drove along the coast and arrived in the village of Selce, which seemed like a nice place. The village was a pleasant size, not too big but not too small either, with a small center bustling with activity.
Part of the reason for staying here was also the availability of hotels. We were traveling during the peak of the Central European vacation season, so accommodation options, especially good ones, weren’t always readily available at the last minute.
We booked accommodation at Pansion Preza, which was a really nice small family-run hotel on the outskirts of the village. The building was relatively new, the rooms were very clean, and the staff was friendly, even though their English wasn’t very fluent. However, we managed to communicate easily through gestures and friendliness ๐
The only small downside to the accommodation was its location, which was slightly off the main road, while the village center was a bit further down by the beach. However, the main road wasn’t busy, so it wasn’t a disturbance. The hotel was about 800 meters from the village center, so not too far. The price of accommodation was reasonable by Croatian standards at 73 โฌ per night.
Selce village center itself was charming, with lots of small restaurants, and the seaside promenade was beautiful. There was also a small water park for children and the young at heart. We spent time wandering around the center and sunbathing on the beach. While the actual sandy beaches were relatively small, a kind of concrete pier served as a nice extension of the beach, allowing easy access to the sea for swimming. We weren’t looking for specific activities here; the goal was to relax and enjoy the sun and beach for a few more days before heading towards Slovenia!
