The town of Page is an ideal base for exploring numerous stunning natural attractions in its vicinity, and one of these gems is the beautiful and picturesque Horseshoe Bend, located in Glen Canyon along the Colorado River. Horseshoe Bend is one of Arizona’s most visited sites, and once you arrive, you’ll fully understand why.
Horseshoe Bend is located right on the outskirts of town, easily accessible by car, making it a convenient destination. Due to its popularity, the parking lot can get crowded, and there is a parking fee of $10 per car.
From the parking lot, there is a walk of just over a kilometer to the edge of the canyon. The trail crosses a large sand dune, so there’s a slight incline in both directions. It’s advisable to bring water and apply sunscreen to the back of your neck, especially in summer when the weather can be extremely hot, and there is no shade along the way. The trail is well-marked and relatively easy to navigate, although the sand can be soft in some areas.
Upon reaching the viewpoint, you’ll be immediately captivated by the breathtaking scenery. The site is truly stunning, and you can admire the views right to the edge of the cliff. However, it’s important to be cautious as there is a sheer 300-meter drop into the canyon, and there are no fences or guardrails.
The area is spacious, so even during busier times, you can find your own peaceful spot to enjoy the views in tranquility. It’s advisable to allocate at least a couple of hours for your visit, including time for walking, depending on how long you wish to admire the scenery.
