From the Riviera Towards the Inland and the Beginning of the Journey Home

It was time to bid farewell to the beach life, and next, our direction was towards the inland, towards the mountains. We had in mind to slowly start making our way back home, so that was our overall direction, but the route was quite open. Our first stop was at a small and charming waterfall, likely maintained by a sympathetic family business. The place was called Waterfalls of Saut du Loup, along the D6 road, and it was only 30 kilometers from Juan-Les-Pins. The entrance fee was just 1€ per person. The place was indeed very small but adorable.

When we visited, it had been relatively dry, so there wasn’t a lot of water in the waterfalls, but after rainy weather, the place would surely be magical. It was a nice stopping point for a little stretch break.

From there, we continued towards the Grand Canyon of Verdon (Gorges du Verdon), specifically the Samson Corridor. You’ve probably seen pictures of the French canyons, where a turquoise-blue river winds through stunning canyons. This is one of those places, and it’s truly spectacular. This time, we only admired the views from stopping points and from the car since today wasn’t the day for hiking. Besides, it was getting quite late by the time we reached this point, so hiking in these landscapes would have to wait for another time. This location was marked on our map as a must-visit for hiking, as the views are so beautiful.

As evening approached, we arrived at the village of Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban. Here, we spotted a large caravan park, and we decided to stay here for the night, alongside fellow travelers. The place was very nice and peaceful, and we slept well through the night.
