Cyprus was our chosen destination when the longing for sunshine after winter was strong, and suitable last-minute flights came our way. So, we booked our flights and began a quick search for accommodation.
Our trip fell in April, which is the beginning of the season. Everything was open, but there wasn’t much crowding yet. Easter also coincided with our trip, and since the most common religion in Cyprus is Orthodox Christianity, the holiday was very evident on the streets, with various events taking place. It was really nice to see the Easter celebrations here and how significant a holiday it is.
In terms of weather, April in Cyprus is quite favorable. Days are warm enough for sunbathing on the beach, although in the evenings, you might need longer clothing as it gets cooler. The sea was still a bit chilly, not as warm as it is in the summer months, but it was still possible to swim.
By Bus from Larnaca Airport to Ayia Napa
Our flight landed at Larnaca Airport, which is about 60 kilometers from Ayia Napa, and we decided to take public transportation for this journey. It required changing buses in Larnaca, but it went relatively smoothly. So, we hopped on a local bus from the airport and got off at Larnaca Central Station, from where we walked a short distance to the bus stop for buses to Ayia Napa. The bus journey from Larnaca city center to Ayia Napa took about 1 hour and 15 minutes and cost around 4 € per person.
Hotel in Ayia Napa
For accommodation, we chose the Cosmo Napa Boutique Hotel, located at the top of the city. The hotel was really nice and cozy, and it was relatively small in size, so the atmosphere was peaceful. The hotel was relatively new, everything was in good condition, and it had a modern and stylish design.
We had a room with a balcony facing the pool, where the sun also shone nicely. The room itself was clean and stylish in every way.
The pool area was cozy, with a nice-sized swimming pool and plenty of sun loungers available, and the cozy pool bar served food and drinks.
We can definitely recommend the hotel with confidence!
Sights in Ayia Napa
Although Ayia Napa is a popular destination for partygoers, the partying is mainly concentrated in certain areas, and the city offers a lot to see beyond these streets. (However, if you are looking for Ayia Napa’s party streets, head to Louka Louka and Ayias Mavris streets)
Bridge of Lovers
This beautiful natural stone bridge is surrounded by crystal-clear seawater and majestic rocky cliffs. It’s a really beautiful and cozy place to admire the views.
Sculpture Park
An unusual sculpture park filled with various sculptures and statues. The sculptures/statues range in style from modern to mythological god figures. It’s a very cozy place, but be sure to bring water with you, especially in the scorching sun, as there’s no shade. The park is quite extensive, and you can easily spend an hour or two there, especially if you visit every sculpture.
Nissi Beach
In our opinion, definitely the best beach in Ayia Napa. It’s in a pleasantly quiet cove, and there’s a small rocky island a short distance from the shore, which offers nice views. The beach is very popular, so there will always be people around, but there are also several beach bars where you can get refreshments for sunbathing.
Ayia Napa Monastery
A monastery building dating back to the 15th century, located right in the center of Ayia Napa, with a history dating back even further. In front of the monastery, there’s a beautiful and cozy park area.
Ayia Napa Central Square
A cozy central square with lots of different statues, a large fountain, well-maintained park areas, and historical buildings.
Parko Paliatso Luna Park
A large amusement park right in the city center, a lively place in the evening with numerous rides and games for both children and adults. It’s a really nice place to stroll around in the evenings and marvel at the hustle and bustle.
Cyprus and Ayia Napa really pleasantly surprised us, there’s plenty to see in the city and its surroundings, and there’s still more to explore on our next visit.
