After waking up in Alta and enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we decided to explore Alta by bike. We wandered through the streets, visited Alta’s famous modern church (Nordlyskatedralen Alta kirke), and went to the seaside to admire the views. It was a nice start to the day before hopping into the car.
From Alta, we set off peacefully towards our next destinations: Gorsabrua and the Lyngen Alps. This was our direction, but we hadn’t planned any specific activities for the day, so we could take the journey at our own pace and stop wherever felt right.
The scenery gradually began to change, becoming much more rugged, with the mountains turning into peaks. The landscapes in the Norwegian mountains are such that practically every turn could be a place to stop and admire the beauty. The road practically follows the coastline the entire time, ensuring that the scenery doesn’t run out.
In the early evening, we came across a lovely rest area right by the sea and surrounded by mountains. There was also a clean restroom, so all the facilities were in order, and we decided to stay here for the night. This spot was also close to the activity planned for the next day: Gorsabrua Canyon.
For once, we were early in setting up camp, so we had time to really enjoy the campsite and the beauty of the location. We pitched our tent near the shore, cooked some food, and savored the peace and quiet. The evening was truly beautiful, and there’s real magic in the bright summer nights.
